Writer to be felicitated
BIDAR: Writer, critic and poet Devaraya Shantappa Sharanappa, better known by his nom de plume "Deshamsha Hudagi" will be felicitated in Bidar on Sunday. The 74-year-old Hudagi has written many books and edited poetry collections. He is considered an authority on folklore. He has produced nearly a dozen works on folklore, including a dictionary of folk terms. Many of his 25 plays have been staged by amateur troupes. "Gandhi Topi" is the most popular of his plays. The Principal District and Sessions Judge, G. Narahari, will release the book "Chetana Shilpi" about the life and contribution of Mr Hudagi, according to a press release. — Staff Correspondent (Saturday, Jun 04, 2005).
