Libraries– the millennia old institutions have been reinventing themselves indifferent ways with the onset of new technologies and paradigms. Thelatest buzz phrase in the technology front is "Web 2.0". Leveragingthe approaches typified by Web 2.0's principles and technology offerslibrary profession many opportunities to transform libraries fromvenerated age-old institutions to agile ones.The term Library 2.0 has been adopted by a growing group of libraries,librarians and information professionals to recalibrate the processesand the paradigms of the library and information services. This newmodel of library is all about amalgamation of – Ajaz, Apollo, WebStandards, User Centric Design, RSS, Blogs, Wikis, Mashups, Tagging,Folksonomies and so on into library and information services. Library2.0 is not just a technology or a thing but a new paradigm and a stateof mind. The heart of Library 2.0 is user-centred change. It is amodel that encourages constant and purposeful change, inviting userparticipation.The Conference will be a forum for discussing the emerging processes,technologies and paradigms of the library profession in the backdropof the new technology of Web 2.0 and efforts to integrate the sameinto the library services. This two-day seminar will ponder over theissues related to Web 2.0 technologies and highlight the initiativesand case studies towards deploying them for making librariescontemporary and user centred.Objectives of the conferenceThis two-day conference is to present the current thinking andpractices, encourage academic and industrial interaction in the areasrelated to Library 2.0 involving librarians, library scienceeducators, researchers, information professionals, and students fromall over India.Topics/Sub-themes * Understanding Web 2.0 * Web 2.0 and Libraries * Digital Library 2.0 * Wikis and blogs for libraries and library services * Tags, Clouds and folksonomies for the library world * Collaborative Workspaces * Exemplars of Library 2.0Call for PapersPapers are called for presentation and publication of conferenceproceedings from librarians, information professionals, teachers ofLIS, researchers and students. The paper must be a originalcontribution based on research, survey and case studies. Generalpresentations and papers giving just historical background are notencouraged. The paper should accompany with an informative abstract(not more than 150 words) and key words.
