Back to divine love … with hand holding by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar : February 08, 2011

Back to divine love … with hand holding by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar : February 08, 2011

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says :

  1. The ability to receive genuine love comes with the ability to give love.
  2. Deep inside, you know that love is not an emotion ; it is your very existence.
  3. …. All the seeming disturbances in love, in your life, do not take away your nature, which is pure love, un conditional love.
  4. You are in love because you can't be but in love.
  5. This love (divine love) is so unconditional; it does not depend on the behaviour of the other person.
  6. Divine love is so refined and so subtle, it cannot be expressed; it can only be experienced.
  7. Divine love, however grows every moment……
  8. Divine love is like the sky which is limitless, infinite.
  9. If there is any thing in this universe that cannot be defined, it is love. If you can describe love, then it is far from the truth. You give flowers, you hug, you prostrate, you offer but still something remains unexpressed.

Fine God in every one and every thing around.!!!!!

That thought that teased me today - February 07, 2011

"Men and other creatures appear to me only as hollow forms, moving their heads and hands and feel, but within is the Lord Himself". – Sri Ramakrishna.

I am aware of this eternal truth, yet keep forgetting it in the hustle bustle of life …. in the so called business of life … business of being successful. Alas! I carry this truth along with me in the so called  everlasting present …. this very moment … this very precious moment. God let me give me patience and perseverance to realize God in every creature … individual who appear in front of me. Cheers!!!

The thought that moves me today, Librarians discover your work…!!!!!

The thought that moves me today, Librarians discover your work…!!!!!
February 4, 2011
"Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it." – Gautama Buddha.
Only the enlightened could think of giving such eternal statements. The first and fore most thing in life is to discover our work and then give ourselves to it. What a thought! We may get some times wondered at what really is the message in this. There is a whole lot of science and art for discovering … choosing …. selecting our work…. the process never ends if you really understand the deeper meanings of the message…. what  in your job is your job. The way you do, the way feel, the way you start, the method you choose the way you finish … all is  all about discovering our work. Then we should graduate to give ourselves to work with our heart. Then the work  becomes worship and job becomes profession and passion. Librarian friends, we are librarians, we do all things that librarians are supposed to do. Are all librarians doing the works in the same way., in the same tempo. Lib friends .. we have to find our work within our work …. That means we need to get to the core of our work … put our heart and soul in what we chose to do. This is the only we we can pave way for turning our vocation and occupation into a passion and profession.

Explore more….to do something extraordinary what you know is enough to start with … you can proceed further and further … and the whole world connives to assist you to go ahead….provided you humbly and honestly believe trust yourself. It is never too late, follow your dream….. cheers!!!!!

Thought that poked me, February 3, 2011

Lisa Hammonds (Dream Big) said, "Education and business experiences are not only the factors, in fact they are not even the most important factors in determining the success of any business"….. "You just never know which life experiences you will draw on as you follow your dream." … "If there is one thing I have discovered , it is that it is small things that can lead to the big shifts in thinking."

We many a time think that due to our not having a B.Tech., or M.Tech or or a business qualification like MBA or MA or for that matter Ph.D … that we are unable to do certain things …. Unable to start a business … unable to come up in life. This qualification business Lisa says does not fall in the most important things that matter either for initiating or nurturing a business or pursuing an intellectual pursuit or to do some thing extra ordinary in life. So Librarians , (including me) …. if at all we think we lack certain qualifications ….. if at all you have not undergone certain courses or if at all you could not read certain books that are sign qua non ….. it is never too late. There are ways and means of going ahead in fulfilling your dear big dream, come what may. If you are not an MLIS and unable to become a lecturer … you can become a publisher and get involved … you can initiate a journal that keeps you close to lecturers and teaching … you can start an e-business and get closer to libraries, librarians and knowledge manager. Explore yourself…. You don't know  what you know…. Explore more….to do something extraordinary what you know is enough to start with … you can proceed further and further … and the whole world connives to assist you to go ahead….provided you humbly and honestly believe trust yourself. It is never too late, follow your dream….. cheers!!!!!

Libraries are creations and Librarians continue to be creative.

On creations and hearts / January 31, 2011

1.        "Creations, whether they are children, poems or organizations, take on life of their own". …. Starhawk.

2.       "Following our hearts, embracing our passion and living our dreams is worth every bit of the courage it requires." – Lisa Hammonds/Dream Big

"Being librarians we are involved either in creating libraries or managing libraries. We should realize that as creations libraries take on life of their own. I agree to what Starhawk tells. Librarianship might or might not have been a passionate choice as a career for many of us. Librarianship is all inclusive, encompassing avocation and calling. We can surely link it to our passions in some way or the other and shape a life well lived. We are associated with books and knowledge, this itself is enough for our being passionate about whatever is close to our chest and whatever we stand by and stand for". LbnRaj

There is more to learn from within than from without..!!! …………………………………. Jan 29, 2011 ; Saturday

Human behaviour is much more mysterious than what we normally think. One day a colleague of mine with whom I had some problems ,,, difficulties … differences, approached and enquired about a project that was in common between us …and passingly (I really don't know whether such a word exists in English) mentioned that the person wanted to talk to me about some other personal issues as well.  We are so much conditioned about our response behaviour … that we really cannot understand the issues in their own right.

Next day  when we happened to meet in the canteen …the person looked bit tensed…and under stress… I said, "I am sorry …I was busy so could not make it to spare time the other day."  I felt sorry that the person had nothing to discuss about the official work as such …but wanted my advice on some personal issues. I realized we should not be judgmental about ideas and people unnecessarily. At the outset the person / friend always looks so confident …adamant and proud …. but when I learn more about the person …I realize how humble….human….weak…..the person is from outside. Let us not be judgmental……wait and see….give little more time for things to clear the fog around.  Let the ground be cleared before we understand…  !!!!!!!!!!

There is more to learn from within than from without..!!! …………………………………. Jan 29, 2011 ; Saturday

He had such a passion and madness for music that he ran away from his hom at the age of 12 .... His passion was realised by his father later and he was sent for training at Sawai Gandharva ... Librarians look inot the eyes of some one who has arrived !!!!!

Librarians, look into the eyes of some one who has arrived……. ; January 24, 2011
"Live with people who are blissful, so that you can have a little whiff, a taste.  You will have to live in satsang.  You will have to look into the eyes of some one who has arrived.  So that you can have a little taste – little sweetness enters into your being, and you can see.  A great longing arises in you seeing that life is not all misery – that nirvana is possible". – Osho (The Company, Sacred Space, Times of India, January 24, 2011)
The librarians had arrived, are arriving and are going to arrive. Yes we need to look into the eyes of those librarians who have arrived, past or present. The company of these great souls, great librarians creates in us a longing in us seeing that life is not all misery – that nirvana is possible.(Inspiration : Osho).

Why should librarians bother about Science or spirituality? ......

Science and spiritual foundations

January 22, 2011 ; Saturday

"Science must work out its own spiritual foundations, yes, by going deeper into cosmic principles which underlie its existence, yes by reading the laws of the universe with a new depth and imagination. Science must base itself on cosmic and not empirical foundations alone, for empirical foundations are so flimsy.   … Science must have humility to learn from the tradition of spiritual truths". – Henryk Skolimowski (Times are Changing, Speaking Tree, Times of India, January 22, 2011).

We the Librarians need to operate from the source of our thoughts... trust me .... LbnRaj ; lotus5673@yahoo.co.in

Golden words of Lane Wagger (Source : Speaking Tree, Times of India, January 19, 2011):
January 19, 2011; Wednesday
  1. The mind is capable of the same settling (like a wave in the ocean) down, or transcending process. Waves of thought retire to the source of thought.
  2. The agitated, limited value of thought gains the unlimited status of being the silent depth of the ocean of consciousness.
  3. The mind is like a body of water : choppy on the surface, silent and stable at its depth.  When we experience only the noisy surface level of thinking, difficulties abound.
  4. The growth of inner silence is the basis of spiritual unfolding and material success.
  5. Consciousness is the prime mover of life.
  6. Knowledge is different in different states of consciousness.
  7. If you are anchored to the silent blissful state of consciousness, everything you do becomes joyful.
  8. According to Maharshi Mahesh Yogi, handle that one thing – consciousness – by which every thing else is handled.
"Just like any other individuals in society, we the librarians do fee insecure , un happy, stressful and anxiety ridden often at times. We are skeptical and worried over the illogical behaviour of our bosses and co-workers and subordinates. We feel proud of some of our colleagues for their good deeds, feel sorry for the irrational behaviour of some others. All is well …. when we work from the core of our consciousness. All is well when we work from the source of our thoughts…that is consciousness. We are heading steadfast to emerge as the much awaited and coveted title of a 'knowledge professional'. Wagger says, "Knowledge is different in different states of consciousness". Being Knowledge professional in this context is to be operating from the source of our thoughts, to be operating from  the silent blissful consciousness level. The day is not far when we slide and glide towards being recognized as a full-fledged librarian, a librarian who would be sought after by every one who has to do some thing to do with knowledge. Cheers". –

Yes! Knowledge personified real self.

January 18, 2011

Yes! Knowledge personified real self.

Yes many of us live a live of burden surrounded by fear, greed and ego. May be this is because we feel all the time insecure due to our focus on our external / outward accomplishments and image and doership. As Asaramji (Speaking Tree, TOI Jan 18, 2011) advocates we need to free ourselves by opening up our internal eye. It is time now time to work towards comprehending our witness absolute, eternal, pure knowledge personified real self free from all bondage as Swamiji says. True knowledge comprehended by internal eye liberates us, purifies us and nurtures us endlessly. The modern so called tech savvy anxiety ridden man needs to read such thought provoking heart soothing reads on a regular basis to arrive at larger than life purpose.

What is this going beyond after all?  Is it about being contended, being selfless, being egoless being broad minded, being inclusive, being tolerant, being happy for what we are and being proud about being amongst the commoners and the greats simultaneously? The answer to this question puts librarians and the librarianship in perspective.  The answer to this question has potential to position librarian and librarianship to the centre place of social fabric.  We can graduate to the indispensable value systems of social  life making way for much awaited and coveted title of being a full fledged profession.  to put it in understandable terms an occupation moves from being a work and job to being a profession and a calling.  When the he, she, it, they, are put in focus, the I and me concerns get more boost and more calling from every where.
What this means to a Librarian?
  1. Being a Librarian let us be what we are and what we stand for.  We  are and will be more comfortable if we are comfortable with what we are as a librarian.
  2. We don't need status comparable to that either of a teacher, scientist or manager or leader or a scholar.  We  have to emerge your self as a true librarian.  lot remains to be done to be a librarian, to be a true librarian.  We can never go further, grow further if we are moved by the glamour of fascinating titles like, a manager, leader or a teacher.
  3. Status does not come with fancy titles, it comes and builds upon our intrinsic potentials and credentials.
  4. User first, members first, patrons first : Our stability and status are closely interlinked to our action and activities and services.  We should make our space and get into doing what others are not into doing.  That makes us indispensable.  When we go further and further in this regard we be come indispensable and we become eligible for what we really deserve from people around and society at large.
  5. Yes, we have to speak the language of he, she, they and you.  Let us place the reader, user, member, patron in the centre place and we will be  on the right track.
  6. There is nothing less in what we are and what we stand for.  We are already at the centre of social fabric.  It is time to realize and introspect.  We had arrived at this centre space long long before.  It is now, again to re assert and go as closer to this reality as possible.  It is possible.  It is possible, because we are already what we wanted to be?
  7. It is time we really stand for what we are ….. this ideal is no less an ideal.  Let society give / bestow  upon us what it rightfully thinks as right and due and true.
We are librarians, we are professionals, nothing more nothing less.  So what if we  still continue to emerge into the best of  what we are!
