Fw: respect others ... will get it back ... directly or indirectly!!!!!!!

Librarians, let us respect and love our neighbours …. every one's love gets poured on us.

January 14, 2011

You love and respect others … you will get them in turn, you help others …. You will get it in turn ….. you console others …. Others in turn console when you need it the most. Don't hate any one …. Nobody hates you …. Don't grudge on any one no one grudges on you. Even if you don't get what you do in return don't bother because it is not your problem …. Be contended for your positive actions. They will acknowledge and return the positive actions / response when they realize ….when they find the time ripe….your actions of good will may or may not be returned directly to you ….. your good will may be poured as acknowledgement on some one else. You help and honour some one …. The other person helps and honours some one else ….. and the nature brings it back to you in some way or the other. Be good be yourself with your words and actions….you will in the long run will be happy invariably.

Librarian in search of thought that can move him:

Lisa Hammond (Dream Big) came  to rescue :

The thoughts that engage LbnRaj today – January 12, 2011, Wednesday

1.    "No one else will do it for you.  Nobody else can put at the top of your own list . ….. Don't belittle your creativity because it comes easily.  Honour your creativity" – Lisa Hammonds in Dream Big

2.    "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all" – Helen Keller

3.    "The present moment is not heading anywhere, it has no goal or end point …. The now eternal ; it is the only time that renews itself endlessly.  In the now we experience two things only : the rush of events, both physical and mental, and the background of consciousness which acts like the screen upon which experience  is registered.  Experience is passing scenery ; consciousness is silent observer." 1. Every thing is absolutely based on a fundamental ultimate law, nothing ever goes wrong.  Yes, sometimes it looks to us as if it has gone wrong, because we were expecting something else.
  2. People who are loving will always find situations where love blooms.  Because this existence goes on giving you that which you project.
  3. Whatsoever has happened to you, you have been the cause of it.
  4. For every hurt or happiness always fee3l thankful, because sometimes pain is needed for growth and pleasure is not needed.  So whatsoever happens, make it an opportunity to grow.
  5. Meditate on death.
  6. Life is a small affair …. Compared to death it is nothing.  Death is eternity.

Lisa Hammond inspires me .... insists to be pround of not knowing many things .... makes me think ignorance is a bliss

Lisa Hammond keeps reminding me  to be bent upon realizing my big dream….

January 11, 2011

I am currently reading her book, "Dream Big"….. here is what I have been learning to be besides my big dream …..from her golden words … :

  1. "Little did they know my writing style came out of my ignorance about how copy should be written".
  2. Getting to cross even one thing off the list made a difference ……
  3. Some times it is a good thing you don't know what you don't know

Give me a thought that keeps me healthy positive for the day ..... can any librarian help me?

January 10,2011 , Monday

What is the thought for the day for me today?

As usual I was looking for the thought that can  place me busy and healthy for the day…….. but TOI centre could not offer me any thing … that corresponds to what I want … what I wish! I suddenly remember my scribbling in my diary  from the Lisa Hammonds book " Dream Big". Here are the lines, " At the beginning of something there has to be nothing.  We have to give ourselves a clean slate and permission to dream". It happens to me quite often that my big dream gets clouded by small inconveniences….and failures. I get upset and get over powered by the obstacles … and the dream remains un attended … leading to a gap in my bigger convictions. Am I right.? Yes today I have some greater task to do. Yes I am not ready fully to face and accomplish it….. but then my intentions are right….I never wanted failures…..I never wanted to be unprepared….yes may be the things dearer to heart overpowered by day today engagements. But I am committed … and continue to be committed. Yes for today's task I am not prepared….. and Lisa says .. for every beginning nothingness is required. Thank God you make way for new beginnings….by making me be in nothingness several times…..on several occasions. Yes this day is one those moments … when things are not right……when every thing required for completing that task has gone wrong. And here The Mother's words give me courage to trust my self trust God …. Who will put every thing in place……. Yes this is what The Mother always inspires me … reassures when ever I think things have gone wrong…. : "When every thing goes wrong, it is then that we must make a supreme act of faith and know that the grace never fails". Yes my faith in myself….my faith and trust in God reassures me of my thinking that I am what I am …. No less No more…..just as I am. Whatever I am is no less no more!

Librarian friends, What is this Being and Having?

January 8, 2011

Librarian friends, What is this Being and Having?

"If being is pure consciousness without ego, having is pure ego without consciousness."(Source : The Speaking Tree, Times of India, January 8, 2011 Saturday).

Being Librarians, we too are human, we too are perfect and imperfect at the same time, we too have feelings, we too may fall far behind in terms of professional ethics at times. Being Librarians does not bar us from knowing some of the eternal truths that make us come out of shallow and limited understandings. If we learn to be in the state of being instead of having … our life will be more enjoyable … more fruitful. Let us provide our services being in the state of Being …. Let us not graduate to the stage of Having which is a host of possessions and attachments. We are in a noble profession… let us be selfless… let us not always be in search of rewards and accomplishments. In our pursuit of excellence …. In our pursuit of being the best in the state of Being …. If rewards and prizes follow … let us acknowledge the patrons…. Society at large who made us think that way … who made us graduate towards excellence. Cheers! We are in the this lively and scholarly profession. Thank God.

New endings and New beginnings .... what we as librarians learn on this?

Endings and beginnings  - What it means to the Librarians?

January 7, 2011

"Every ending is a new beginning.  Through the grace of God, we can always start again." – Seneca (Sacred Space, Times of India, January 7, 2011).

"I have special inclination for Library Services … like indexing, abstracting etc … but you know … I have wasted years at Circulation Counter of the library … I don't know when I will get into in what I am passionately interested." "I am so passionate about socializing … Public Relations but for the last 5 years I am working as a cataloguer …. What a waste of time …. How do I get back those 5 year… time doesnot come back." We hear such laments of Librarians either young or middle aged or the seniors as such. If we look at the lives of performers …. Innovators …. Inventors … successful leaders … we can very well understand …. The path of success is not as smooth as we think of. Desperation for something… craving for something gets birth out of a situation where in we are doing something not so dearer to our hearts. And this desperation will make you head towards getting into what you always wanted to get involved in. If we are deprived of something … for quite long ….dont feel bad….dont get disheartened….that builds up the required energy and passion for the thing….you have always wanted to do. If you are bent upon doing something …. You will find time … you will find resources…you will find opportunity. Don't succumb to circumstances  and situations … endure your efforts….sustain your passion… be what you are … stand for what you are. There are examples of many Social Scientists, literary figures, scientists … who enjoy doing most of what we librarians call as work. There are many librarians who double up either as a writer, poet, or an artist. And it is not necessary that we should earn laurels only from the vocation that pays us and continues to pay us. There is no end as such for any thing…. The years that have gone behind cannot be recalled … but that was not a waste …. We are the result of all of our involvements, moments, experiences of the years that have become history now… and they have made us what we are today.  And whatever we are today is nothing less nothing more…. And we have no right to ridicule on what we are …. We are what we are … we should continue to be proud of what we are and what we stand for. Every ending has a beginning…..we can always start over right now again and again. It is not late for any thing…. The left with you for this life … may be 10 years, 20 years ….40 years…80 years are neither less nor more. The time is just enough for doing and accomplishing what ever you always dreamt. Cheers! It is not late for any thing even if you are at 50 or 60 or 70 or 80. Start now … this could be a right moment for one more new beginning…..Cheers!!!!!!

Unreasonable questions to a Librarian .....

Unreasonable questions to a Librarian....
  • Can you hope to always to be surrounded by good people? ... or to be good environment?
  • What nurtures goodess, virtue joy and love
  • Will you agree to the theory that indicates how we make our destiny .... our thoughts ... leading to emotions..Moods...Temperaments......Actions.......Destiny

  • I quote Purnima (The Speaking Tree, Times of India, 06-01-2011), "A mind that is awake and watch nurtures goodness, virtue, joy and love within a human being in all aspects of life.......Awareness is what can give you an extraordinary quality of life.....so come alive, live consciously, be aware of every movement, and be awake to every rythm of life.  In living live every moment that you see is each a time a     NEW BEGINNING".

Library ethics and ethical librarianship ...... how ethical r v as librarians? .......... January 05, 2011

Library ethics and ethical librarianship

January 05, 2011

Ethics forms the base of human society inclusive of all fabrics of human life. Organizations and Institutions adhere to ethical practice all over. Libraries and librarians are not an exception to this and they are associated with the world of knowledge. I am focused here more on ethical librarianship rather than library ethics which includes the dos and donts of other stake holders. How ethical is the profession of librarianship? How ethical are the librarians? What forms the base of librarianship with regard to its ethics? It is time to go back to professional code of conduct enshrined in our institutions and professional associations, which all of us agree to abide by. Cheers! It is an honour and joy to be good, to be ethical …………and above all this paves way for our position as a full fledged profession …. this  paves way for our rightful position and status in society. Cheers!!!!!!! Let us be ethical.
