Sir,
According to my spontaneous opinion of Librarianship is Ssearching for information and dissemination of correct information to people who are are in need of the information and in the bargain Librarians become more knowledgeable and they become needy persons in the society for the benefit of information.
Withregards,

BLOGFree Range Librarian comprises the public, oft-daily mumblings and grumblings of one Karen G. Schneider, a writer and librarian who has written over 100 articles and 2 books, primarily about Internet technologies for library trade publications. Her less technically-oriented works include essays, portraits, travelogues, video reviews, and a historically dubious account of Washington crossing the Delaware. From 1995 to 2001, as the Internet Librarian columnist for American Libraries (circulation 65,000), Schneider consistently ranked in magazine surveys as AL's most popular author.By day, Schneider is a drudge who meekly toils in the shadow of six brilliant librarians who select, evaluate, describe, and organize websites for the well-regarded Librarians? Index to the Internet, http://lii.org, a publicly-funded portal/announcement service focused toward librarians and lifelong learners.

Know your Librarians Far and Wide - Series : Rebecca Blakiston
KNOW YOUR LIBRARIAN FAR AND WIDE - LIBRARIAN - Rebecca Blakiston
Rebecca Blackiston in her own words,
"As a budding library professional, I thought it was about time I started my own blog. This blog began as I was trekking through my final semester in library school in fall of 2007. There honestly isn’t much of a focus, but rather a general sharing of knowledge with the rest of the library world. I hope this will help facilitate discussion of various outreach and professional development activities, new technologies & other methods of reaching communities, and the future role of libraries and librarianship.
About me, I recently obtained my MLS from the School of Information Resources & Library Science (SIRLS) at the University of Arizona (UA). I began the program in the fall of 2005 and graduated this past December 2007. I was President of the Library Student Organization, our ALA Student Chapter, Spring 2006-Spring 2007, which was a fantastic experience. I also co-chaired the planning for our 3rd Annual Graduate Student Symposium held in November 2007.
I was full-time staff in the Materials Access Team (access services) at the UA Library starting in 2005, and held the title of Library Specialist, Library Information Associate, and Library Information Analyst. Prior to becoming staff I was a student worker (shelving, paging, maps, newspapers, circ desk, scanning, photocopy, you name it) for two years. In January 2008 I landed an Assistant Librarian position with the Undergraduate Services Team so now work primarily with reference services and instruction for first-year students. This is a temporary one-year contracted position so I am still actively seeking a permanent position for when this has run its course.
I have a passion for librarianship and its values, particularly teaching information literacy, promoting equity of access & freedom of information, participating in outreach to communities, and encouraging continuous learning. While my experiences have mostly been in the academic setting, I am very open to working in a variety of libraries, as long as they have the same commitments and support the same values that got me into this profession in the first place. We will see where this field takes me. I can’t say where but I am certainly up for the adventure!"

ili - SUGANA'S COLUMN - : Dr. S.R.Raganathan's painting presented to the Department of Library Science, Sri Venkateswara University, 1986
Dr.Ranganathan's photograph on Asha's blog reminded me of my contribution to the Dep. Lib. Scie., S.V. University. I painted Dr. Ranganathan's portrait the day before our annual meet and presented it during the function.
Dr. Ranganathan's concepts remain current even to date. Application of his ideas to address the issues of semantic web technologies needs to be explored.

ARCHANA SINGH'S COLUMN ON ili - HYBIRD LIBRARY
HYBIRD LIBRARY
The hybrid library is a term used by librarians to describe libraries containing a mix of traditional print library resources and the growing number of electronic resources. Hybrid libraries are mixes of traditional print material such as books and magazines, as well as electronic based material such as downloadable audio books, electronic journals, e-books, etc. Hybrid libraries are the new norm in most public and academic libraries. It seems that the term "hybrid library" was first coined in 1998 by Chris Rusbridge in an article for D-Lib Magazine [1].Hybrid libraries evolved in the 1990s, when electronic resources became more easily available for libraries to acquire for public use. Initially these electronic resources were typically access to material distributed on media such as CD-ROM or searches of specialised databases. The OCLC helped push libraries towards acquiring digital resources by providing a centralized technology resource for participating libraries [2]. Now, with the widespread availability of digital content, it includes Internet resources and documents which are online, such as eprints.Hybrid libraries are the new norm for many archivists as well. Digitization has changed the way archivists have gone about preserving historical items. Archivists are now using digital technology to preserve items that were once only preserved by things like microfiche. Archivists now use things like digital imaging which make it possible for researchers to see historical items online.[3]The emergence of the hybrid library has put a new emphasis on copyright issues for many libraries. The complicated and changing copyright laws in both the United States and the European Union have made it a challenge for many libraries to make sure their patrons are using the digital items lawfully.[4]Hybrid Libraries need staff that are trained in helping patrons navigate the vast amount of information available in the digital age. Librarians working in hybrid libraries now must have training in electronic media as well as the traditional print forms.
