One more opportunity for a New Beginning .... Wish all of you a Happy and Prosperous new year 2010
New beginnings December 31, 2010"A new beginning brings with it a freshness that is hard to ignore as it brings with it fresh hope and the promise of bright days ahead." – Janina Gomes (The Speaking Tree, Times of India, December 29, 2010).When things go wrong …when hopes and dreams seem to be shattering……when the last second, hour, day and year haunts…..what should one do? Repent on the past that went wrong? Worry on the next moment, next hour, next day or the next month and year? You are right Gomes, a new beginning, a new fresh beginning is a wonderful option! And when should this new beginning take off? Is it the next fresh second, it it the next fresh hour day, month or the year? A fresh beginning could be conceived at the earliest …….could be the next second or the next minutes. Yes explore freshness all over again in the fresh new beginning……there are n number of opportunities for new beginnings. Explore as you move from second to second, life is full of abundance, if we act unconditionally and abundantly. Next beautiful moment is waiting for our new beginning! "Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but any one can start today and make a new ending" - Maria Robinson (Sacred Space, Times of India, December 30, 2010). Yes Maria, no one can go back for initiating a new beginning..... but human mind is such that we always tend to think of how bad or how good was our beginning yesterday ..... last month .... and we keep building up castles in the air. Whatever was the beginning .... or the start ... it was ... it is past now....... that beginning is beyond correction. The beginning that is history now ... should be built upon ..... refreshed with new beginnings .... am I right? We can always make new beginnings .... for achieving desired endings... desired goals. It is indeed beautiful to be in the present ..... because it takes care of your history of today as you can see it from tommorrow. By being in present .... you can shape a better and desired tommorrow ..... am i right? Be in the present and define your future history and future tommorrows. Cheers .... be smiling now.......... lbnRaj Librarianship is a noble profession http://indialibrarian-intl.blogspot.com/ 1816gbgv |

Why holidays when every day is a holiday?
Why holidays? "When you like your work, every day is a holiday". Frank Tyger. (Times of India, Sacred Space, 29, December 2010). It raises questions like ….. What do we mean by a holiday? Can we have or should we have holidays continuously. Is it not logical to have a distinction between a holiday and a working day. Let us assume that we enjoy our work on a working day a lot ……………….and it is really a celebration every whey while we are on work. Can we celebrate every day every moment……………..then the celebration loses its importance. We like sweets ……………………can we have sweets every day ………..every moment. We need to be cheerful every second…………….everyday … then no one likes to be cheerful………..it becomes so boring you know……………………….. Now should we have holiday every day………………………… Then is it wise to like our work so much that …………….every day looks like a holiday? ……………………………….. I don't know……………… it is quite natural not to like the work so much ……………… so that we may have those rare moments when we liked the work so much ……….and so much passionately? I think Librarians will agree on this ? Am I right? Why we dont believe in the un seen and un touchable?
To believe in the unseen … !!! "To believe in the things, you can see and touch is no belief at all. But to believe in the unseen is both a triumph and a blessing." Bob Proctor (Source : Foggy Vision?, Sacred Space.- Times of India , December 28, 2010). Yes most of us do believe in the unseen, untouchable,…. without our knowledge. We live with the unseen, un perceivable and all pervading supreme power unawares. Either by deep penance ………….meditation……………….or introspection …………..we do believe the unseen, un touchable at times. But again we may often come back to the basics ………….that is trusting and believing only that which can be seen and touched. We keep oscillating between mind and matter ……….continuously ………..endlessly. Mother, Mother and Mother !!!!!!!!
mother "I am the mother of the wicked, as I am the mother of the virtuous. Never fear. Whever you are in distress, so your self, 'I have a mother'." (Sri Sarada Devi). Beautiful indeed! Sri Sarada Devi has told what every one does without any one being told about this. Whenever We are in trouble or distress …. We suddenly pronounce ………… 'maa'……………. Avva………………. Mummy……………….. That is the nature's gift to human kind known as Mother. There cannot be any other example of unconditional and unlimited love …………….. other than mother. "If you want peace do not see the faults of others. Rather see your own faults. Learn to make the w2hole world your own. No one is stranger, my child. The whole world is your own." (Sri Sarada Devi). True indeed ……………………we keep searching for the mistakes that others commit tend to commit………………..unaware of what mistakes we commit …………..keep committing. No one is a stranger in this world …………. What a truth. We are all connected by land water and air and space……………………… nothing in universe is disconnected. Every thing is connected with the super power……….the supreme power………….all inclusive of living and non living things. I am so much thank ful to Times of India for including these two wonderful columns known as Sacred Space and The Speaking Tree. They are constant source of inspiration, courage and wisdom…………..not only to me but all those who are addicted to wait for the days Sacred Space and The Speaking Tree. Hope Librarians do have this habit of having a daily glimpse of sacred space and The speaking Tree. I wish they do! What do you Say? I dont know how and why? I have developed this fascination for reading. The speaking Tree and Sacred Space columns of Times of India for the last few years. It has almost become an obsession to read thse just like I have my breakfast and dinner. Hats Off to Times fo India for these columns on centre page. The last night I had a peculiar dream. One of my colleagues / friends proessional Acquintance (not so much known) drops into my library / office ...saying "thank you for the invite.... / I said ' oh it is my pleasure.... me, my friend said a colleague of my mine get to the auditorium and get to the podium. Instead of chairs there was a long streatching matress on wwhich we a ere resting .... relaxing. That was a very light and relaxing moment f9or we three or rour we / were convrsing some things which I dont remember now. I dont know whether we were relaxing... or almost e had ... ere lying . There is a sleeping position.... The whole auduience infront of of us and wer were shispering...gossipping. Suddenly my colleague asks me what time the program starts? Then suddenly vwake up. oh is there a program/? My God I forgot..... e need to arrange for it... oh my God the audience is already there in front of us and we really did not do anything. How come the uests of honour did not arrive? Then the dream shatters........... and I keep thinking on te dream..that went by. How come dreams are at times so illogical..... disconnected and meanless. Now this time of the day I have got to write on this when I incidentally happen tro read something.....by Jui Padegar on Aurobindo (TOI, the Speaking Tree 6-9-2010). According to Aurobindo, "There are several realms of consciousness beyond the physical world we live in and that these planes of consciousness are in facct and that these planes of consciousness are in fact the other worlds that are as real as we take our own world to be. When one sleeps the subconscient mind is freed from the shackles of the mind that operates in the physical world, travelling across other those other worlds soaking in the experiences both good and bad..... that are needed for further consciousness evolution of the individual in the dream state.
I end this write up with the words of Marguerite Theophil, .... working with "What is means to seek meaning within the absurd, peace within chaos, light within darkness, joy within sufering without the need to deny the reality of absurdity, chaos darkness and sufering" (The Speaking Tree, Your faithfully with grace, Times of India, 01-10-2010).

Librarian towards ASSISTED SERVICES.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Librarian towards “Assisted Services”
LbnRaj
November 17, 2010; blogged on December 25, 2010.
It is a novel and recent service being slowly making its inroads into our urban life. According to Divya, the assisted service concept is in the west for quite some time . I think it is a great and out of the box idea. People in general today are too busy in their jobs/business and family life. They find it difficult to invest more time and energy in organizing some of their activities like shopping , programmes etc. The office goers are hard pressed for leaves / breaks. This facility known as assisted service really is timely and works well . Changes I hope will get rationalized slowly. I dont remember correctly it was in Times of India some ago, some one wrote on the concept of “Personal Assistant”. The content was almost same like that of this by Divya. Coming to the knowledge and information side this “Assisted Service” works wonders. “Personal Assistant” conceived in this way can never be replaced fully by Elders, parents, teachers or friends. The day Librarians realise this and come out darlingly to assume such out of the box role, will indeed be a day of celebration. Though not explicit every student, scholar, teacher , businessman looks out for some one who is accessible who could assist in organizing this personal information / knowledge requirements. Information/ knowledge workers and librarians are attached to their organizations and institutions. No one is available for catering to this unpronounced / implicit requirement. Yes this could be a very right time to locate a librarian as your personal assistant. Yet this could be a very right time a for a librarian to think out of the box to assume a more aggressive and socially visible role as a knowledge / information assistant on call. Librarians! Cheers. New opportunity and challenge waits for you! Grab it before others do it on your behalf! A personal Librarian! Wow!

All about the budge word "Knowledge"
The budge word “Knowledge”
LbnRaj
November 11, 2010 ; presented on December 25, 2010.
It is not uncommon these days to hear terms like knowledge society, knowledge economy, knowledge management, knowledge engineering and so on., every where in social networks , media and local day today gossips Information and knowledege and their generation, storage and retrieval and communication is a pre-requisite of human life nd its existence, since time immememorial. Some times in the loud noise of the pronouncements of the concept and term so very often one seems to be easily mislead. One may erroneously think and feel that the so called information/knowledgfe had no role in the shaping human society and its business and activities. One should sooner or later come out of such fobia. Knowledge has mattered the society, may be much intensely thean today, in the past. The difference could be only in terms of ease, speed and convinience of handling it some time back we were very clear about the meaning of infomation and knowledge. It is grossly unfortunate now that knowledge is brought to the level of data and information.l.. May be we will pay heavily on this error later. Much of information and its processing now is computable and progammable. May be we need to restrict ourselves at this level. I still find it hard to digest our computing abilities when it comes to knowledge and wisdom. This is not to undermine the importance of developments with regard to artificial intelligence and robotics. May be the concept could have become a handy tool in the hands of modern busines sicience, may be our businesses have graduated to their second levels. But some where some how we need to progress towards a distinction between statisticsw, data, numbers , information, knowledge and wisdom. Let us continue to progress towar4ds arrriving at new break throughs, inventions and innovations without meddling with age old established terminologies for drawing new lines/ bench marks for business excellence.

Every one wants to be good! Any thing wrong with this?
Every one wants to be good! I have never come across any one who basically un conditionally wants to be a bad doer. No one wants to be known as a bad person. No one wants to do wrong and bad things. Then why do we get into wrong things…….. why do we get to do bad things? Even in case of small medium and hard core criminals basically never intend ………………….. intended to be be bad and bad doer. Every one know that they need to be noticed………………… they need to be acknowledge for their being important …………………. their being correct, their being righteous. May when some one does some un acceptable thing ……………………. Wrong thing …………………. Bad thing – they still are not convinced that they are wrong persons………………… they justify being right in their own right………………….. in their own logic. May be there is lot of competition to be good in this world. It is so difficult be known as a good person …………….. and be known for that. And many a time we get disgusted to many many good people around…………………. We just cant stand so many good people around ………………. Who are bent upon under mining my goodness and being right? There is lot of competition in this world to be good person …………………. More better person than others…………………. Can I call it as a healthy competition? -LbnRaj ; lotus5673@yahoo.co.in ; Librarianship is a noble profession http://indialibrarian-intl.blogspot.com/1816gbgv |

Give and take or give and give?
Give and take or give and give?
“You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it is a little thing, do something for others- something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it”. - Albert Schweitzer (Sacred Space, Times of India, December 23, 2010).
What I personally think is that, basically every one feels like doing something good to others all the time. We all understand very well about our need to be recognized…. …………………need to be appreciated by others. We also understand that no body will recognize us ………………nobody will appreciate us……………………….nobody will notice us…………………………..without our being of some use to some one all the time……………….. What about the librarian? Luckily Librarians have so much to give to so many people all the time………….. day in and out. This is indeed a special privilege! We have the noble task of sharing information and knowledge to as many as we can. The beauty of our profession is that we are systematically trained to do so. Let us thank God for making us Librarians. Let us be proud of what we are…………. the way we are. There is more joy in give and give and give …. …………….. the things we may start getting will be countless.. -LbnRaj ; lotus5673@yahoo.co.in ;

What is this Big Bird Thinking? ....
Can Librarians be big bird thinkers? "Big bird thinkers are those who are so mature that nothing can distract them from their objectives, who give well-considered responses when in adverse situations, rather than simply indulging in an emotional backlash. …………….. Spirituality is good for the all-round development of the individual's personality, for it makes you free of tension and friendly towards all. Spirituality is the way to all kind of success. …………………… positive thinking makes you a 'bid bird thinker' and 'big bird thinking' imbues the human character with spirituality. Although this is an inner quality, it is this inner quality that has the power to better all your external affairs." - Maulana Wahiduddin Khan ; www.cpsglobal.org (Source : The Speaking Tree, Times of India, December 22, 2010). Yes, I dont know what is my status with regard to Big Bird Thinking ..... I do strongly feel and believe that I do have the habit of spontaneous emotional back lashes .... which is not in tune with this philosophy. I know those who fall in this category of thinking … are much above quick back lashes …. They go in for considered and well-thought out responses. But what about being natural and spontaneous … being simple and responsive ….. just in tune with the natural laws and nature. I think I need to think further on this. I think librarians on line these days are more into responsive …. Quick reactive mode than considered responses on wide range of their interests and avocations? Am I right? What about modern bloggers …. Can we find many bloggers who fall into the category of 'big bird thinkers' ? Librarianship is a noble profession http://indialibrarian-intl.blogspot.com/1816gbgv |

What is this loving detachment?
Loving detachment "Truly wise is he who is un stirred by praise or blame , by love or hatred. He is not moved by the opposites of life. Verily does he delight in the blissful self." - Srimad Bhagavatam (Source : Sacred Space, Times of India, December 21, 2010). This line of thinking has always made me think a lot … …. Over and over again. In fact my friends, family and close associates call me as insensitive and non responsive to day today ups and downs in life. May be true … ………………….. it is rare that I cry … ………………….. yeas ……………… people say I have lot of patience ……………………………may be some others may call me as shameless ……………………thick skinned. In the heart of heart I know I am not insensitive ………………I do respond I do feel I do feel bad. The question that haunts is is it necessary that I must be so vocal about my sadness or happiness? But sincerely appreciate those who are vocal about their happiness or sorrows. I think people who express everything openly ……………frankly get lightened…………………….get relaxed then the ones who do not break down on any thing. May be ………………..i should know more about not being moved by opposites of life. Is it that people don't get moved by opposites or that they really gone above such levels. At times I have noticed some individuals like my father ….. some times a teacher …..not really responding ………………………………………..reacting much to the tunes of either happy moments or when some mishap happens. Could be when one puts on experience …………………….sees lots of ups and downs of life ……………….this could be the time ………………when one takes every thing easily …………………….. or they have moral balance to face ………………………realize the higher values of life…………………higher levels of ultimate realities of life. Yes in this regard I need to learn a lot understand a lot with regard to being in blissful state…………………….and I will find time to do that sooner or later. May be… just like I have morning tea … I may have to read such simple but powerful thoughts every day … every morning ..
Good morning, Universal Love "Try your best to treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself, and you will find that this is the shortest way to benevolence". – Mencius (Source : Sacred Space, Times of India, December 20, 2010). Yes , many a time I feel upset about the way some of my colleagues, friends and neighbours neglect me. They don't wish me when they see me for the first time on a day. I think I care every one … but why people around don't respond don't respond kindly. Yes may be the way want every one to treat me … I may not have done. I may have been busy in my own way … and that I did not treat some one with due attention… due care … due love … yes I have to learn to be kind to people around .. If I ever want others to be kind and loving towards me. What about those who had been very kind enough to be … so much caring towards me … and I had no time to respond to them in the same intensity with which they treated me all the times….. If Asha did not say good morning to me …. Why I did not say? Why should I expect only the others to start … why not with me. I know this as to why it happens this way …. And why I keep forgetting this every time … and I have to read inspiring words of great people like Mencius again and again. May be… just like I have morning tea … I may have to read such simple but powerful thoughts every day … every morning .. may be every night before going to bed. Why should I think that I have arrived at some perfections …. Why do I forget to learn on a regular basis day in and out! Life is indeed more mysterious than we have ever imagined.
Life is indeed more more mysterious than we have every imagined. This I think I would have said several times.... I don't know how many times. Time and again it is said ... that we must be focused in what we do .... then and then only the desired goal is reached. At times we get confused as to what is my goal as such.... and in which direction we are moving. What I felt often is that we have some set goals ... we keep moving in that direction.... we may or may not succeed ... but we may continue to abide that desire to continue in that direction. What is important is what we get engaged in is what is close to our heart in-spite of our set goals.... pressing obligation. One may be an engineer ... but deeply obsessed with music.... One may be a doctor deeply obsessed by painting. Whatever may be vocation... profession .... by hook or crook .... how ever busy we are however critical it is to attend to other works .. one does spend time for a thing ... unusually ... extraordinarily ... exceptionally. I saw my father writing poems ... in a very very unusual time ... in a very very un usual situation. People would just wonder what this man is doing at this juncture... time. This is a small example of how people hook on to what they love a lot....!!! People listen to what is close to their chest.

Self is pure Consciousness ......

Strength and The ways of the world
Strength and The ways of the world
Strength : "Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength" -Arnold Schwarzenegger (Source : Sacred Space, Times of India, December 14, 2010 ; Tuesday). The Ways of the World : "Unfairness is a part and parcel of life. Such is the way of life. Can we teach ourselves not to be victims of unfairness and face it with the understanding that life's mysteries cannot be fully understood?". (Source : The Speaking tree, Times of India, December 14, 2010 ; Tuesday).
"Yes, what is the yardstick to assess and measure our strength …. The best yard stick is the way we face the hardships …. We will realize our strength this way better than by any other way I think.. We many a times realize that life is unfair towards us many a times…. What if this is the way life is? Any attempt to unravel the mysteries this unfairness is the unravel the mystery of life itself. The real answer I hope could fairly be answered by gyani's like Basava, Akkamahadevi, Osho, Jiddu, Sukhbodhananda and Shri Shri". Life is for living / Swami Brahmdev, aurovalley@gmail.com
If you want to live a better life or not, if you want to know more about yourself, or not; if you want to live this life knowing yourself or without knowing yourself. This is w3hat we must learn. Don't live a life with ignorance. ; live with awareness, with knowledge. Then you can grow, then you can progress and fulfill the purpose of life. Knowledge Management and Librarians
Knowledge management is rapidly becoming an integral function for many organizations - academic, corporate and others - as they realize that competitiveness hinges on effective management of their knowledge resources. In the present situation, where only certainty is uncertainty, one source of lasting competitive advantage is knowledge and its manipulation.
Researchers have discovered that knowledge is what the organization knows, how it uses what it knows, and how fast it can know something new, are the three major thing that offers an organization a competitive edge.
When are we going to take up KM seriously? Can we have a list of Librarians who are actively participating in the KM activities in their organisations?

Gratitude “A deep gratitude must be shown towards whole just for the opportunity that you are , that you can meditate, that you can be silent, that you can laugh” – Osho
Gratitude "A deep gratitude must be shown towards whole just for the opportunity that you are , that you can meditate, that you can be silent, that you can laugh" – Osho Yes. Golden words of Osho. What we are what we have are no less …. All of this is from nothing …. And we graduate into nothing… and nothing is everything. We forget many a times to express / show gratitude… to God, people around … our parents … the people who picked up when we wanted some one to lift us up. The moment we are in for showing gratitude… all our feelings and thoughts that we are left alone … no body bothers …. Will wash away. We feel light when we are in the plane of gratitude. Let us pay make it a habit to pay gratitude to any thing and every thing that matters to us that is around. Leave every thing on the almighty … every thing will be alright … do and think what you are upto. Rest will be taken care by the unknown and nothing. We must graduate to nothingness blissfully… happily. Hope all knowledge managers and librarians do say yes to me.
