Webinar -Lecture by Chiara Fox Part 2

Chiara Fox is a Senior Information Architect for Adaptive Path. Chiara has developed successful IAs for intranets, informational Web sites, and e-commerce sites.

Chiara received her MS in Library and Information Science from Simmons College. She spent ten years working in public and science libraries as a cataloger and reference librarian before devoting herself to the Web full time.

Topic:

The topic of the webinar is “Making Information Architecture Real” Information architecture (IA) is a process of structuring, describing, and organizing information to help people create, manage, and consume information.

We would be completing the second part of the Click U Webinar. Part 1 of the Webinar was replayed on April 16, 2008 while Part 2 focuses on what needs to be done with the content on your site after identifying and structuring it. The course will also include the creation of a mental model to structure your site using content maps and task analysis. Finally, the webinar will focus on the effect of labeling and tagging of words chosen to increase the usability of your site and will provide real-life examples from Chiara’s work as an IA consultant to illustrate the concepts covered.

Note: The webinars will be a bi-monthly feature from now on and will discuss new topics of interest and professional development. For more information, please stay tuned!!!

Thanks Raj for inviting me. I always look at & make note of the books and movies of my friends so this should be an interesting site. I plan to be active here and add my books soon but right now I just started a new job as a Personal Care Worker in a nursing home so I can't write too much today. One great book on finding a satisfying career path is called The Pathfinder - How to Choose or Change Your Career for a Lifetime of Satisfaction and Success by Nicholas Lore.Another one is Life as a Daymaker by David Wagner. It's about how to change the world by making someone's day.!For example place value on harmony in the workplace and when you rise everyday, vow to put a smile on several people's faces everyday. It's filled with great quotes and great examples of doing good to others

Dear Kishorlal

Dear Kishorlal,

Good question. I wanted to be a Sociologist, but I needed a job at the earliest. I could understand that....becoming a librarian is more probable than becoming a lecturer in Sociology. So I did BLS. Once I finished BLS.....I realised....that the scope of the subject is very limited....I decided not to be a librarian....I went in for doing my PG in Sociology regular full time......I finished it..........At the end I became a librarian......no regrets..........it is now my way life.....
